Bike Camping at Milo McIver this weekend, PLUS register for Silver Falls Memorial Day camping!

Hello friends! Just wanted to let y'all know that we (as in Cycle Wild) will have our monthly bike camping expedition this weekend! This time we head out to Milo McIver State Park near Estacada. It's a fairly easy 20-ish mile ride one way. And yes, we'll be passing through Boring!

We'll be meeting at the Cleveland Avenue MAX Station, (1000 NE Cleveland Ave, Gresham) at 9:30am, Saturday May 5th. Roughly $5 per person park fee, bring own food. We'll make a supply stop in Estacada, one mile before the park. Full service grocery located in town. Hiking trails, disc golf, campfires and great company - come join us! We leave the MAX station at 10am sharp!

And this year for the first time we'll be going to spectacular Silver Falls State Park for our three-day Memorial Day weekend camping trip! I'm really excited about this trip because I've only been to Silver Falls once. Part of the reason why it's so tough to go here is because the campsites fill up pretty easily and there's no dedicated hiker-biker sites. But this year we've reserved the group camp, so no worries.

Do you want to go? Well, now is the time to reserve a spot. There's only space for 25 in the group camp and we're nearing half-full as I type this at 8pm on Wednesday. We'll probably fill up before the weekend. To reserve a spot, do not leave a comment in the blog but go to Eventbrite to reserve a spot. (Note: No money will be collected at the time of reservation, but estimate $5-10 per person per night.) We may reserve the other group site if we fill up within the next two days.

The ride to Silver Falls is fairly challenging, so please don't sign up if you don't think you can do it. It's 65 miles (approx.) one-way. While the first 50 miles are fairly flat, the last 15 miles is climbing on narrow and sometimes steep road. We ride from Portland to Silver Falls on Saturday May 26th, hang out at the falls on Sunday May 27, and ride back to Portland on Monday May 28.
