A Quick One, While He's Away

Stone circle atop Council Crest
Yeah, it's been awhile since the last post. My life has become busy and chaotic, with a busy October leading into an even busier November. This month is going to be high on the stress level as I gear up for both Bikecraft on December 1st and 2nd, and my art show at Bikeasaurus on Dec 7th. While working loads at the Hostel helps in the "restoring the coffers" department, it doesn't help me in getting ready for all that stuff. Wish me luck.

Last Friday, I led the Council Crest Climb urban walk. This was part of the Walktober festival put on by the Willamette Pedestrian Coalition. The weather was pretty mediocre (as it has been for the last half of October), but the rain did hold off. Surprisingly, I actually had a taker, despite dismal weather and the walk being held on a weekday. Desiree and I had a good hike up to Portland's highest point. While the view wasn't epic due to the cloud cover, it was still a good time.

On Tuesday, I attended the Breakfast on the Bridges Storytime at Velo Cult. I recounted the sordid tale of one Stinky McDonut, who struck fear into the heart of Jay Graves, owner of Portland's largest bike shop chain, the Bike Gallery. The secret of who Stinky is will live with me in perpetuity, but I can assure you, I am not Stinky McDonut.

And as I type this on Friday afternoon, I'm getting ready to bike over the West Hills into Washington County to stay the night at the Grand Lodge in Forest Grove. Tomorrow is the annual Verboort Populaire, a 100 km ride put on my the Oregon Randonneurs. April and I rode it last year. It was our introduction to randonneuring, and we had heaps of fun. I never got around to doing another rando ride this year, so I feel now is the time. (April is in Seattle this weekend.) Hopefully the weather will be better than last year!

Hopefully next week I can write more on this blog. Believe me, I have lots to talk about. And I'm sure you want to hear more about the Raleigh Crested Butte!
