  1. The flex is there for a reason, to smooth out the ride... =)

  3. Ahh, the dreaded flex. For a long time I was worried about getting a P-type Brompton because of what I'd read about the 'excessive' flex in the bars, including from reputable sources such as Lovely Bicycle. In the end when I got the bike the bar was rock solid. Perhaps some people like to stand up on the bars when no-one is looking.

Reminds me of when I was leading a ride for my former local campaign group with another person send from a sister campaign. She couldn't understand the distance I could cover with ease on the DL-1, thinking it highly impractical. She was on an old Peugeot race bike converted to (an extremely high) fixed gear...

  5. To be fair, the Civia Dupont bars have more flex than the other bars that I use, due to their design, and it took a little bit to get used to it.

But the person that inspired this comic and I have pretty different bike philosophies!
