Bike Ride to See the Vaux Swifts!
Tuesday September 15th
departs from the Hawthorne Hostel, 3031 SE Hawthorne Blvd, at 5pm
EVERY SEPTEMBER thousands of tiny Vaux Swifts swoop into Portland, Oregon, to feast on flying insects during the day and make a spectacle out of roosting in the tall chimney at Chapman School at night. THIS IS THE LARGEST VAUX SWIFT NEST IN THE WORLD, and a uniquely Portland experience! We'll meet up at the Hawthorne Hostel and ride over to catch the show, stopping at Food Front for picnic supplies. We have to leave early from Hawthorne to get there on time! Can't make it to the hostel or live on the westside? Just meet us at Chapman School. Possible pub crawl afterwards.
