THE NEXT ADVENTURE:
COUNCIL CREST CLIMB
Saturday 4 March
Here's another walking adventure from the peoples who brought you the 'South PDX Expedition!' Take an 'urban hike' up to Council Crest, highest point in the city (1,070 feet!) Use secret stairways and paths and not-so-secret sidewalks to get to the top (note: no actual rock-type-climbing involved). There will be great views of the city along the way, and the top you may be able to peep four different volcanoes!
At the top we will have a picnic lunch. Bring food and beverage to share (keep it veggie-vegan). We'll also stop at a market along the way for supplies.
THE WHAT: an exploration to the highest point in town via the Goose Hollow and Portland Heights neighborhoods--on foot!
THE WHEN: Saturday, March 4th, 2006 at 11am. Walk should last about three hours, with plenty of stops.
THE WHERE: We'll be starting at Collins Circle, SW 18th Ave at Jefferson St in Goose Hollow
THE WHY: because now is a good time for a walk, and many people have never been to Council Crest!
THE WHAT TO BRING: Water to drink. Food to eat and share. Tri-Met fare ($1.65) for possible return bus ride.
THE HOW: On your feet! Wear some good walking shoes!
HOW TO GET THERE: Via Tri-Met MAX-Red Line, MAX-Blue Line, (MAX STOP: Goose Hollow) or 6-MLK bus (end of line).
THE DETAILS: RAIN OR SHINE. Be amply prepared for the weather. If it's clear and sunny out, it can be quite windy at the top.
FLYERS: Print out a four-up copy of the flyer by clicking here. (Note: pdf file, requires Adobe Acrobat or equivalent.)
