Let's try this one more time...
After canceling it in December, I'll be leading an Urban Nature Hike on Saturday 10 January at 11am. We'll meet at Hawthorne Hostel, 3031 SE Hawthorne Blvd. For this hike, we’ll check out the wooded lands around Marquam Trail in SW. We'll start around the OHSU area and climb up to Council Crest, highest point in the city (1,070 feet)! If it's a clear day we should see several mountains from the top! We'll eat lunch up there and then head down to Washington Park to catch the MAX. Bring water and a snack, we’ll be out there for a bit. (The walk probably will take about 4 hrs or so.) Please also bring bus fare. This walk is RAIN OR SHINE. Prepare for the weather, bring your raingear. And why yes, it can be muddy, so this might not be the best day for Chuck Taylors. This is January, after all.
This was a great hike. I live here in Portland, but had never walked up to Council Crest. Even though it was foggy, it felt great to reach the highest point in Portland by foot. Thanks so much - I look forward to future Urban Adventures!
